It operates in the U.S. and 70 other countries. Garrett Camp, the co-founder of StumbleUpon, got the idea to form Uber in 2009 to make transportation cheaper and hassle-free. In 2010, Uber was finally launched, and Ryan Graves became its first employee. Soon after that, Uber launched its mobile application publicly in 2011. The initial name of the company was UberCab, which was changed to Uber.
